This one goes out to the ones I love. This one goes out to the ones I've left behind. A simple prop to occupy my time.

Well it's been a while since I last posted... I knew this would happen. I haven't been able to keep a decent journal since high school so why would a blog be any different? Anyways I lot has been happening in the past few weeks. School is heating up with lots of researching and assignments and I have actively started searching for new homes. I have resigned myself to the fact that my cheapskate roommate would never leave here and so it must be me that vacates. I am ok with this except for the rent increase that will be associated with it. However, sometimes money does buy you happiness.
This week an important scholar in the field of Classical Archaeology has been at UBC lecturing his little heart out so I have been attending as many as I can. He actually gave a talk on a subject that I was supposed to present on for a class but that has been ripped out of my hands! AHHH... it was better to hear him talk about the Sebasteion at Aphrodisias since he actually excavated the building and wrote his thesis on part of it. To know more about this cool site check this out:

I have no idea really what NYU's affiliation with it is but they have a good site with some plans of buildings from Aphrodisias.

I also ran into an old old friend this week. He is actually someone that was once a camp counsellor of mine when I was a kid and then we were on the same camp staff when I was a bit older. It was totally weird but I knew he was in school here so it was only a matter of time before we ran into each other. He is getting married in September and is therefore one of the first people I know who is getting married even though he is not in my close circle of friends. We exchanged emails so hopefully we can hang out and possibly meet up with some more Ekon (http://www.jesuits.ca/ekon/) people that have come west.

Today I was able to buy tickets to see Ryan Adams on March 22nd at the Commodore Ballroom. I am actually pretty excited about this one. Dave and I saw him at the Opera House in Toronto over the December holidays and even though he was sick with some nasty cold it was an excellent show. Hopefully this time around he will be even better although with that broken wrist who knows what will go down. This concert will hopefully be compensation for the John Mayer concert that I am giving up to go home for reading week. If anybody happens to want tickets to that show... let me know because two are up for grabs and the seats are excellent.
Anyhow... I should probably do some homework or something. I have been pretty lazy today watching movies that I rented last night. I did watch Whale Rider last night which I really enjoyed and I watched Morvern Callar this afternoon and it is a pretty dark movie I must say. In the end I did like it but it's not a movie that I could ever watch again really... the cinematography is mostly dark and there is not a lot of music in the movie which makes it kind of creepy and almost documentary like in the way that it seems you are spying on someone's daily activities.
Ok right... back to that homework :P I'll check in soon and hopefully learn how to make this site a little more interesting. Later...
